Candles poured at 71 Market Street

Cinder Moss is a candle room in Portland, Maine. We pour the jars, trim the wicks, and mix a short line of room scent. The wax, the wick, and the hours are on this site in plain words.

The wax in the tumblers and jars is a coconut and soy blend. The pillars are beeswax, unscented. Wicks are cotton braid, cut to 6 mm before a flame is lit in the room. Oil, when there is any, is 7 percent of the wax by weight. We do not dye the jars dark.

On the shelf

An 8 oz tumbler is $28, one cotton wick, about 40 hours if you keep the trim. A 12 oz jar is $38, two wicks, about 55 hours. A beeswax pillar, 3 inches across and 4 inches tall, is $26 and has no oil in it. Scents in the jars are balsam needle, bayberry, dry cedar, black tea, or none.

Trim and room scent

Bring a Cinder Moss jar to the counter and we will cut the wick. The brass trimmers on the tray are $18 if you want the same tool at home. That work is described on Trim.

Room scent is a 4 oz reed diffuser, $36, or a 2 oz spray, $22. The oils match the jars. There is no plug-in and no mist machine. Details are on Room scent.

The door

Monday closed. Tuesday through Friday 10:30–18:00. Saturday 10:00–17:00. Sunday 12:00–16:00. Pouring happens Tuesday through Friday before the door opens, at the bench in the back. Monday the room is dark.
