Poured
Three vessels. The tumblers and jars are the same coconut-soy wax. The pillar is beeswax. We pour them at 71 Market Street, twelve at a time, and we mark the facts on the cotton tape.
Oil, when a jar has it, is 7 percent of the wax by weight. More oil in this blend burns dirtier, so we stop there. The oil goes into the melted wax at 68°C. We pour at 62°C. Hotter, and the top sinks as it cools. Cooler, and the oil can speckle. Those are our numbers for this blend, written above the bench. Jars then sit ten days before they are sold.

The glass is clear and straight-sided. The first lighting needs long enough for the melt pool to reach the glass, often close to two hours in a still room. A short first burn tunnels. That is written out in the February note on a cold jar.

The inside diameter is wide enough that one wick leaves a raw rim of solid wax. Two wicks fill the pool. Keep them even. If one grows a carbon cap and the other does not, trim both before the next lighting. See Wicks.

The color is the color of the wax. It yellows a little with the honey in it and we leave it. A pillar set beside a radiator will lean and soot along the high side. Keep it in the middle of a level stand, off the vent and off the windowsill. Two hours is a full evening. Let it set hard before you light it again.
What we leave out
No dark dye. A heavy dye load smokes, and a Portland ceiling in January will show it. Bayberry oil tints the coconut-soy a shade on its own. That is the oil, not a color we added.
Frost on the outside of a soy blend is the wax cooling. It shows more when the room is cold. It does not change the burn. A pale map on the glass side of the wax is not mold and it is not a crack in the vessel.
